A hedonist's delight taken to extremes - sensual taste notes

My (Mike's) personal recollections of amazing moments shared, published with permission of all person(s) involved. Though hosted on SMA’s site, these writings may not specifically be about sensual massage but are simply my journey, experiences and musings about life, the universe and everything in-between.

In my pursuit of hedonism and sensuality, my singlemindedness has led to some pretty extreme attempts to incorporate all 5 of our senses: sight, sound, smell, touch AND taste into one symphonic whole.

Usually, my passion for giving sensual massage only covers 4 of our senses: sight, sound, smell and touch. TASTE being the obvious and glaring missing piece of the puzzle.

My original source of inspiration in covering this last sense, was first sparked by an earlier session with my wonderful muse @supermuse and brought to fruition in a subsequent session with @LanguidCass - here's her take on the experience.

Here's my side of the story and the planning involved in making a session like this a reality. I also posted this to share that it's a team effort and the final success of the session depended on multiple people's input, time and effort, all of which I greatly appreciated. Shoutout to @OfficialPothosd @thLemonLime and a bartender friend that all contributed to it's success.

PLANNING PART ONE

LC first approached me about exploring sensual taste about two months before the actual session began. At that point, it was a potential concept I wanted to pursue further, but without much impetus to proceed, it was kept on backburner for several months.

How does one incorporate taste into a sensual massage? And while I was brainstorming it, quickly many issues became apparent.

One being - taste profiles and preferences. I might love something tart and refreshing, with a slight sourness that wakes the senses, but others might not enjoy that flavor at all, and this might spoil the experience for them.

I drew parallels in planning for this session to be something like an Omakase meal - you describe your preferences to a master chef and leave it to him/her to craft the mind-blowing experience for you. Similarly, when I plan sensual massages, I have a pre-consult form that allows me to design a customized experience for the receiver, but food and drink - this goes beyond my level of expertise - I can barely cook a decent cup noodle for god's sake!!!

On that note, my initial idea was to plan for a 3 course dinner and 6 flights of drinks, but the scale of doing that in a hotel suite quickly brought me back to reality. In the end I settled for a more reasonable attempt at planning a series of drinks and finger food with some tiny surprises along the way.

I came out with a short questionnaire of favorite tastes, likes and dislikes for flavors, textures, food and drink styles, and gathered information from LC. Working with a bartender friend, I commissioned him to help me to prepare 6 flights of drinks to be appreciated at various points of a sensual massage session.

Other added complexities started piling in - drinks would need to be stable and transportable, and that eliminated some cocktails that had to be drunk on-the-spot once made. We would need equipment and the right containers to hold the drinks and their temperatures stable while bringing them onsite. Some drinks might need to be warm, some need to be cold etc. (We eventually settled on mostly cold drinks of varying degrees to adopt a KISS philosophy that largely works)

PLANNING PART TWO - TRIAL RUN

After spending about two weeks discussing options for drinks based on taste preferences and feedback provided, we finally settled on 6 drinks to be prepared and it was time for a trial run.

In the process of brainstorming this, we came up with an idea to create a similar experience for couples, called 'Sensate' and decided to kill 2 birds with one stone in trialing the planned drinks as well as run a 'Sensate' trial run (another article on that some time soon, I hope!). @OfficialPothosd my site co-founder chipped in and we ran a fairly successful trial session which resulted in minor tweaks to the final choices.

We were finally good to go for the taste component!

FINISHING PREPARATORY TOUCHES

Something so elaborate requires proper buildup, ambience and flow. I spent another week or so mulling on how the session should begin, the ambience and also paid attention to post-session aftercare touches, as well as a secret surprise right at the end which would be the final icing on the proverbial cake. Every little detail counts.

For ambience, I ordered in 3 different versions of mood lighting and tested them all, finally settling on one that was portable and gave the best effect, you can see one of them in action here!

For audio, two parallel soundtracks of thunderstorm and meditative music were chosen.

And for aftercare, a warm indulgent bath was planned to cap off the session - with 24 floating, flickering LED candles to top off the visual experience - and ALL of this had to be a surprise to LC!

The flow was designed as a series of sensory experiences to stimulate the senses, as far as possible, in unexpected and delightful ways. I have a passion for crafting mind-blowing experiences for others, I guess it shows through in the approach and attention to detail (so I've been told).

LC kindly offered to chip in to buy chocolates, and I thought that would be a delightful sensory stimulus that pairs well with our drinks prepared.

ACTUAL SESSION NOTES

Much has already been said by LC and I'd like to refer to her excellent review of the session. LC has great eye and attention to detail too, and I was surprised that she picked up almost all of the little touches I'd planned - that was amazing and definitely gratifying on my part too.

My plan to blindfold LC and lead her into the session room, serving the first two drinks blindfolded, was designed to help heighten our sense of taste and smell, and that worked well. It led nicely into uncovering of sight and the appreciation of the room ambience and follow by smooth flow and transition into the actual massage.

At a later arousal peak (body to body / b2b), my plan was to transform raw arousal / lust into passion, and ignite the senses by sharing a taste moment together. To deepen the sensations from superficial physical components to a more appreciative, mindful, even spiritual encounter, to add more depth and meaning to the experience.

Side note: I feel VERY strongly about this - my take on sessions is always about looking beyond - beyond a momentary flash of pleasure, to something that can add lasting value to both receiver and giver. A means of growth and development that ideally, transcends that instant. Sometimes I manage to achieve it, in varying degrees, but regardless, I always seeking for this ideal.

The warm candlelit bath provided a perfect counterpoint to an intense and sweaty session, a lull as part of the ebb and flow of sensations perceived throughout.

My final finishing touch, a throwback to childhood days of simplicity - a popping candy goodbye kiss! Literally felt like fireworks were going off in our mouth!

FINAL THOUGHTS

In hindsight, the flow went so well, much, much better than I could have expected.

Thanks to @LanguidCass for the opportunity and push to pursue this! And @supermuse for being my muse and source of much inspiration!

I remain thankful, appreciative, humble to continue learning and now, still in search of the next great adventure! ;)

Until then, Mike 😘😘😘

P.s. I alluded to 'Sensate' earlier in this writing - hope to share more about it soon with @OfficialPothosd - very exciting plans ahead for a couples version of something like the above! We're designing it to facilitate deep communication and connection between two people that already have an existing relationship.
