21 Random things about me

My (Mike's) personal recollections of amazing moments shared, published with permission of all person(s) involved. Though hosted on SMA’s site, these writings may not specifically be about sensual massage but are simply my journey, experiences and musings about life, the universe and everything in-between.

Thought of sharing some interesting and totally random facts about myself.

Due to the need to keep some things a bit more private, these are really just the tip of the iceberg for me - there are other more interesting tidbits I can only share in person too! 😜

  1. I'm pretty musical, can play 6 instruments well enough to have performed on all of them before (at an amateur level). Drumming, especially, I find to be therapeutic - practicing rudiments and working on independency is always a pleasure.

  2. I cannot cook for nuts but I have quite a lot of experience in brewing beer! It's hardcore the lengths one goes to make your brew perfect! I started brewing in the days where the framework for homebrewing didn't yet exist in Singapore (the legality of it was... questionable)... Update as of 2024 - I’ve started cooking! An extension of my passion for exploring our sensory scape, I consider taste an experience in itself. I think I’m fairly decent now at steak, codfish, some desserts and now embarking on making that perfect dark chocolate ice-cream!!!

  3. I hardly drink alcohol, 1 glass of anything is good enough for me. My favourites would be whisky & wine. Strangely, I love brewing beer more than I enjoy drinking it! 😂

  4. I am terrible at dance of any kind. Friends have asked me to learn - bachata, kizomba etc. But I don't have the time!!!

  5. When I was younger I sang B2 in the choir. I wanted a higher vocal range 😂, nowadays I'm just happy with what I have.

  6. My favourite sport in my younger days was basketball, I used to play it daily in my teens.

  7. I am pretty geeky and self taught myself programming when younger. Come to think of it, I self taught myself quite a few other things too - how to make etched circuit boards, how to solder, how to brew beer(!) etc - back in the days when the Internet was nascent. We did research via this thing called 'books' in a 'library'!

  8. My favourite way of drinking alcohol is by infusion - mouth to mouth. (Wanna try? 😜)

  9. My super power is that I am almost never bored, have always felt that life is an adventure and it is always what we make of it. If you join me anywhere, it is rare that we'll both be bored - that's the last thing to be worried about!

  10. I identify strongly as stoic and existentialist. Thus I believe in living authentically (being true to ourselves), in personal responsibility, taking ownership of one's choices and finding our own meaning in life.

  11. I have been raped twice in my life - once in my teens, and another in my late 30s. I've gotten over it. It's now an interesting story I might share with you if we are close. One of it is pretty funny on hindsight and I never fail to laugh at the situation (and myself) when I recollect. (Not to make light of the situation and how others may feel about rape as a whole)

  12. I have never smoked, vaped, or taken recreational drugs of any kind ever in my life. It is what it is. I don't have anything against it either. I just like my concious experience in life to be unfiltered.

  13. My favourite food since young, is Laksa. Ask me where my favourite Laska place in all of Singapore is - it still exists!

  14. My favourite feeling/emotion is Frisson (/ˈfrɪsən/ FRISS-ən; French for "shiver"), also known as aesthetic chills or musical chills, is a psychophysiological response to rewarding auditory and/or visual stimuli that often induces a pleasurable or otherwise positively-valenced affective state and transient paresthesia (skin tingling or chills), sometimes along with piloerection (goose bumps) and mydriasis (pupil dilation). Mind = Blown.

  15. I would also be very happy if I could induce that feeling/emotion in you. One of the things I really enjoy is to share a mind-blowing moment or mindset-changing moment with others (you!).

  16. I've produced a musical and, written about 15 songs w lyrics for several original musicals. Now my creative pursuits are wider and more varied 😜.

  17. I'm not a pet person, although I do not have any fear of any pets and am totally ok touching, or carrying them.

  18. Somehow people find it very easy to talk to me. I don't really know why. But I do enjoy learning about others and likewise sharing more about myself. I search for the common humanity in each of us, the beauty in every one of us, always seek to build others up, and bring our attractiveness out.

  19. I've had three close friends die so far, one from suicide, another cancer and the last one from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). All 3 have fascinating stories, and had woven their lives somehow with mine. At times, I live appreciating moments in life, conciously carrying my memories of them with me, forwards. If we do have a chance, I will gladly peel prawns for you when we eat, and tell you why and what meaning this action (peeling prawns) holds for me.

  20. My favourite colour is black. If that's not a colour, then dark/navy blue. Red - secondary. I prefer solid colours in my dressing and usually dress down and dress for comfort. I do not like to be treated differently or better than others. I like to think that I'm an ordinary person, leading an extraordinary life - that others can likewise live too.

  21. I've had some pretty amazing relationships/connections in my life, always grateful and thankful for them! If you inspire me, we have a muse connection (ask me what it is!) and that is probably the greatest and deepest form of connection we can experience.

I’ve found that such a connection can't really be sought - it just happens when one least expects it! I wonder who might be my next muse? 🤔

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it! (100% true!!!) 😜😘

Cheers, Mike 😘😘😘
